Here is the first major browser that allows direct bitcoin payments
The Opera browser implements the possibility of making payments with bitcoin – directly in the browser.
With the new implementation, Opera’s 350 million users around the world can now both send and receive bitcoin, but also pay for goods and services online, directly in the browser.
“We believe that opening our browser to more blockchains, including Bitcoin, is the logical next step to making our solution more relevant to anyone who has a Bitcoin crypto wallet and would like to do things with their cryptocurrencies beyond just keeping them in an account”, says Charles Hamel, cryptocurrency manager at Opera, to Cointelegraph.
Not the first cryptocurrency
The new features have been in Opera’s beta since this summer, but it’s only now that the proper launch is happening.
It is also not the first cryptocurrency to be implemented in Opera’s browser. Since February, Opera users have been able to buy ethereum directly in the browser, Cointelegraph reports.
Opera was first developed in Norway but was purchased in 2016 by a Chinese consortium.
