  • New survey reveals: Austrians are most skeptical of cryptocurrencies in Europe

    Aug 14, 2019

Countries are different when it comes to the perception of cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin.

In New Zealand, for example, they are so positive that you can now get your paycheck in bitcoin, while in other places in the world there is a more crypto-skeptical climate.

Austria is the most critical of all. This according to a new survey by the major bank ING. It shows that only 17 percent of people living in the Central European country believe that cryptocurrencies are the future of digital payments.

That number has dropped since last year when it was 20 percent. In addition, the survey shows that only 14 percent in the country think that cryptocurrencies are a good investment.

Europe has gotten more critical of cryptocurrency

Overall, the study, in which 13 European countries, as well as the US and Australia, were surveyed, showed that Europe has become more critical of cryptocurrencies.

One of the exceptions is Turkey, where as many as 62 percent view cryptocurrencies positively, according to ING’s report.
